Painting Buttercream with Cake Art Paint
Top tips for painting onto buttercream/frosting with Cake Art Paints:
Prepare your cake surface
- Chill your buttercream cake until the surface is firm to the touch (at least 30 minutes).
- A smooth, cold surface will prevent the paint from sinking in or smudging.
Shake & mix paint well
- Edible paints can settle, so shake the bottle thoroughly.
- Pour a small amount into a dish to avoid contaminating the whole bottle.
Application
- Use a fine brush for details (lettering, outlines, accents) and a larger brush for washes or bold designs.
- Dab or stipple rather than dragging the brush, this gives a more solid shine and will not pull your buttercream.
Let it dry
- Leave the cake in a cool, dry place until the paint sets.
