What's the difference between 3g and 20-30g sizes?

Same premium quality Shimmer Dust (lustre) - just different quantities. 3g pots are perfect for occasional use or trying new colours. 20-30g pots offer much better value for colours you use regularly. A 3g pot covers several cakes, a little goes a long way.

How do I apply Shimmer Dust (lustre) for best results?

Dry dusting: Use a soft, dry brush on completely dried surfaces. Wet application: Mix with clear alcohol or rejuvenator sprit for painting. Highlighting: Dust lightly over textured areas. Always tap excess off your brush first for control (smaller brushes are perfect for this).

Can I use Shimmer Dust (lustre) on buttercream?

Lustre works best on firm, dry surfaces. On buttercream, let it crust first, then apply very lightly by adding the dust to a brush and tapping from a far over the surface you want it to go. For better results on soft icings, try our Sparkle Dust Spray instead.

What should I use for mixing dust to make a paint consistency?

Clear, high-proof alcohol like vodka is ideal or Rejuvenator Spirit - it evaporates quickly leaving pure colour and keeping the shimmer. Avoid flavoured spirits that might tint. For alcohol-free options, mix with edible glue thinned with a drop of water.

My Shimmer Dust (lustre) won't stick - what's wrong?

Surface must be too dry. If still not adhering: lightly mist surface with water first (barely damp), mix lustre with medium rather than dry dusting, or check if your surface has oil/fat residue preventing adhesion

Can I mix Shimmer Dust (lustre) colours?

Yes! Create custom metallics by blending. Popular mixes: Gold + pink = rose gold, Silver + blue = steel, Gold + bronze = antique gold. Mix in small amounts first to test your custom shade.
