How much icing whitener should I use?

Start conservatively! For powder (25g): Begin with 1/4 teaspoon per 250g icing, adding more gradually. For liquid (80g): Add drops at a time. You can always add more, but you can't take it out! Mix thoroughly between additions.

What's the difference between powder and liquid whitener?

Rainbow Dust (25g) is pure titanium dioxide powder - mix directly into icing. Squires Kitchen (80g) is oil-based liquid with glycerine - often easier to blend, especially in buttercream.

Will icing whitener affect taste or texture?

No! Both products are completely tasteless and odourless. When used correctly, they won't change your icing's texture. The liquid version might slightly soften very stiff icings due to glycerine content.

Is icing whitener the same as white food colouring?

Essentially yes, but specifically formulated for icings. The titanium dioxide creates opacity and brightness. Regular white food colouring might not be as concentrated or effective at countering yellow tones.

Can I make my own icing whitener?

Not really - titanium dioxide requires special processing to be food-safe and properly dispersed. Our products are professionally formulated for consistent results. The investment is worth it for reliable whitening!
