Embossing Sugarpaste
Top tips for embossing Sugarpaste:
Embossing is a simple way to add beautiful patterns, textures, and detail to sugarpaste. Follow these easy steps for perfect results every time:
Prepare your sugarpaste
- Knead until smooth and pliable.
- Roll out evenly on a dusted surface (about 3-4mm thick).
Dust your embosser
- Lightly dust the embosser with cornflour or icing sugar to prevent sticking.
- Tap off any excess.
Position the embosser
- Place the embosser on the fondant where you want the design.
Apply gentle pressure
- Press or roll the embosser firmly and evenly across the sugarpaste.
- Avoid rocking, as this can distort the pattern.
Lift carefully
- Remove the embosser straight up to reveal the embossed design.
Cut or apply
- Cut shapes (like plaques or toppers) before placing on your cake, or emboss directly onto fondant that’s already covering a cake.
Optional finishing touches
- Brush lightly with edible dusts or lustres to highlight the raised details.
- For deeper contrast, paint with edible colours over the embossed pattern.
