Prepare the cake as usual by applying a crumb coat and chilling. This will result in a smoother finish.
Knead the Covering Paste until soft then roll it out to the desired size and thickness with a rolling-pin on a flat surface lightly dusted with icing sugar or cornflour. If desired, you can colour the Covering Paste using food colouring gel before rolling.
Carefully drape the rolled Covering Paste over the cake. Starting from the centre and working down, gently smooth out any wrinkles by hand or with a cake smoother. Any air bubbles can be popped with a sharp pin.
Once draped and smoothed, trim any excess Covering Paste from the bottom with a sharp knife.
Once opened, store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
