Modelling with Sugarpaste
Top tips for modelling with Sugarpaste:
Modelling Basics
- Knead before use - Warm the paste with your hands until soft and elastic.
- Shape gradually - Always start with simple shapes (balls, sausages, cones) and combine them to form more complex models.
- Use edible glue - Attach pieces together using our edible (our Click Twist Glue Brush is perfect for modelling). Hold for a few seconds until secure.
- Support as needed - For figures, use cocktail sticks or wires to provide structure and stability.
Detailing & Decorating
- Texture tools - Use modelling tools, venires, or even household items (like
toothpicks or straws) to add detail. - Colouring - Dust with ProPowder or Cake Art Paints to bring your models to life.
- Layering - Build up small details (bows, buttons) gradually instead of trying to model everything in one go.
Drying & Storage
- Allow models to dry at room temperature until firm before placing on cakes.
- Store finished decorations in a cardboard box (not airtight containers, as they trap moisture).
- Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent colours fading.
